Overview
The MiG-15 was one of the first successful swept-wing jet fighters. It was powered by a Soviet copy of the British Rolls-Royce Nene engine, which Britain had sold to the USSR in 1946.
When it appeared over Korea in 1950 it shocked US forces by outclassing all their jets until the F-86 Sabre arrived. Around 18,000 were built in the USSR, China, Poland and Czechoslovakia, making it one of the most produced jet aircraft ever. Specifications are for the MiG-15bis.
