Overview
The Super Constellation was a stretched version of Lockheed's famous Constellation, recognisable by its curved, dolphin-like fuselage and three tail fins. Powered by four big Wright Turbo-Compound piston engines, it flew long-distance services across the Atlantic and to Asia in the 1950s for airlines such as TWA, KLM and Air India.
The arrival of jets ended its airline career within a decade, but military versions served as radar early-warning aircraft. Specifications are for the L-1049G.
